The meal was fabulous.. the ambiance, old school rat pack with big circular booths and huge chandeliers.
The staff, warm and welcoming.
Sean, our server was charming and totally in point.
From the elk tenderloins were stellar.. the bananas Foster, to die for. -

Can I say the best steak I have ever eaten? Yes, I can!
I had a filet and it was spectacular! The crust on it was fabulous. Lightly salted, it was great.
I had to ask them what made it so good. They dry age it for 28 days...i didn't know that really worked. They showed me they actually cook the steaks over a wood fire on a Texas bbq type rig.
Garlic mash potatoes were great too, but that steak!
I went mid week and the place was somewhat slow. Service was fabulous and friendly.
It is surprising to find a steak house of this caliber in the back of a casino in Carson City. Better than some of the really pricey Las Vegas places I have been.
Oh yeah, I didn't really know I was going to eat here so I wasn't dressed up. It is really kinda fancy. I asked them ofI was dressed ok, they said Sure!
I will be back.. -

Nice steakhouse inside the casino. It's my daughter's fave spot for special-occasion dining, so of course she took me there on a recent visit.
Service was very attentive and quite friendly. The holiday decor was pleasant without being over-the-top; and mirabile visu, the noise level was quite muted despite the open layout of the restaurant. (Noisy, conversation-killing restaurants are my pet peeve, so this was a welcome surprise.)
My filet was very good, prepared perfectly medium-rare. Desserts were delicious. Prices were higher than I expected, though, especially since sides weren't included, but were charged at an a la carte rate.
I thought it was good, not great, for a celebratory dinner. Enjoy, but don't expect to rave about it. -

This was our second visit to Duke's. The first time we ate there we had steak and it was so full of fat and gristle that little was edible. We swore then that we would not return. That was a year ago.
Some of our friends said that our experience was isolated and that we should give it another try. All I can say is Never Again. I adore Oysters Rockefeller but somehow they just didn't make the grade. Almost as bad as the Oysters Rockefeller that are offered on the Sunday buffet. That's bad. Very boring.
I also had the seafood salad which was good but not exceptional. The service was so-so. Our waiter never came to check on how our meals were. He would just walk by a row or two away and smile.
I no longer will believe the rave reviews of Duke's. Fool me once. Well... but fool me twice? My bad.
What a shame.
